The reduction of irregularities in the use of “process fmea”: a study for a cold stamping process

Abstract

The Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a requirement for ISO/TS 16949. However, researches show nonconformities in its use by automotive suppliers. The objective of this study is to identify these nonconformities, aiming to suggest methods for minimizing this problem. Therefore, questionnaires were applied in seven automotive suppliers and, for each one, ten FMEA`s were analysed. The research identified nonconformities in the use of FMEA for the stamping process and highlighted seven influencing factors. Based on this data, a strategy is suggested. A partially parameterised FMEA spreadsheet is suggested and tested in three suppliers, showing significant improvements.

Carla Cristina Amódio Estorilio, Dra.

Engenheira Mecânica pela UFPR/UNITAU em 1991. Especialista em Informática pela UTFPR em 1995. Especialista em Ergonomia dos Sistemas de Produção pela USP-SP em 1999. Mestre em Tecnologia pela UTFPR em 1998. Doutora em Engenharia de Produção pela USP-SP, incluindo um ano em Cranfield University, finalizado em 2003. Professora do grupo de Projetos do Departamento Acadêmico de Mecânica da UTFPR desde 1992, em disciplinas que envolvem Expressão Gráfica e Metodologia de Projeto nos cursos Técnico, Tecnologias, Engenharia Industrial Mecânica e Mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica e de Materiais.

Richard Posso

Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica (2007) e graduado em Tecnologia Mecânica pela UTFPR/2004. Trabalha no setor industrial automotriz através da “Renault - Brasil” desde 2002 na área da fabricação. Seu foco tem sido a integração da fabricação entre a Renault da França e a Renault do Brasil.
