Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents a statistics and mathematics simulation model for the complex bulk cargo of the Paranaguá harbor. The model comprises all the goods flow, since its arrival in the parking areas for trucks and trains, their unloading at the port terminals and the ship loading process at the berths. With the developed numerical model, it is possible to evaluate the system behavior and to test new policies before they are effectively implemented. Therefore, as the model shows numerically the effects of subsystems changes, the port system manager will choose policies that bring real benefits in the system performance and, consequently, improving its efficiency.
