This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of a tool shop, responsible for manufacturing aluminum, plastic and magnesium injection molds, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). A longitudinal case study was carried out over a period of 50 weeks, from January 2021 to December 2021, using the internal benchmarking approach combined with critical incident analysis. The DEA model used was the output-oriented CRS. Among the main results was that 14 decision-making unit (DMUs), representing 28% of the period, obtained the maximum efficiency value (100%) and the average efficiency of the sector was 92%. The analysis of critical incidents identified 8 events (7 internal and 1 external) that affected or contributed to the observed levels of efficiency. It was concluded that the application of internal benchmarking generated self-knowledge about the sector. The technical efficiency indicators calculated using DEA modeling were viewed positively by management, as a tool of great importance for decision-making.
