Are entrepreneurs poorly educated?

This article investigates the education and training of entrepreneurs in the Serrana Region of Santa Catarina, aiming to understand how their education may assist in problem-solving throughout their business journeys. The study analyzes the entrepreneur's profile, considering factors such as social context, political environment, and academic background. Utilizing the Brazil Mais Program from Sebrae, we assessed the financial performance of 12 companies in the region over a 10-month period, based on responses to a questionnaire filled out by the entrepreneurs. The results reveal a positive landscape regarding the education of the entrepreneurs and the economy in Santa Catarina, indicating that many have higher education or training courses. However, the Brazilian entrepreneurial environment still faces significant challenges, such as complex regulatory issues, limited access to financing, and the need for adequate infrastructure. This study highlights the importance of addressing these obstacles to foster a more favorable entrepreneurship environment in Brazil, aiming not only to strengthen businesses but also to promote sustainable economic development in the region.
