Supply chain, Blockchain, Traceability, Systematic ReviewAbstract
Developed in 2008 with the proposal of allowing financial transactions without a third party, usually a financial institution, blockchain technology ended up sparking interest as a tool for optimizing the traceability of supply chain assets, due to the inherent properties of being an immutable and distributed ledger. However, the use of blockchain technology in this scenario is still in development, with few use cases beyond the initial phases. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify and evaluate the potential benefits of using blockchain technology as a tool for traceability in supply chains. This research carried out a systematic review of the literature that covers the topic and highlighted the benefits of automating traceability processes, reducing fraud, auditability and certification with the use of blockchain technology. Governance challenges and technical factors and gaps regarding the distribution of information, certification and cost when using this technology were also considered.
