Efficiency and internal benchmarking
case study in a tractor assembly company using data envelopment analysis

Increasing production efficiency can help companies improve their competitive capacity. It is essential to use robust techniques for a broad measurement and evaluation of efficiency in order to support decision making. Thus, this study aims to analyze the productive efficiency of a tractor assembly company. The analysis was performed longitudinally using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results obtained show the efficiency scores of each analyzed month, based on internal benchmarking, and a classification of the areas of the analyzed production unit that most need implementation of performance improvements. Internal benchmarking can help identify best operational practices. The identification of best practices can help to increase the efficiency of inefficient operations.
