Prioritization of phases in product development
an analysis of UFSM 's Baja SAE teams

The SAE Brasil program, made up of engineering students, has the challenge of designing Baja off-road vehicles. Just as companies seek to stand out through the Product Development Process (PDP), Baja SAE university teams apply the PDP as a competitive advantage and to comply with regulations. This article examines and compares the importance given to each stage of the PDP by UFSM's Baja SAE teams, with the aim of identifying patterns, discrepancies and best practices. The research uses an Analysis Framework to evaluate the prioritization of steps in the PDP, collecting qualitative data through semi-structured questionnaires and quantitative data through a survey. The results, presented in the Analysis Table, reveal the Baja teams' perceptions of the PDP stages, highlighting those considered "Very Important" and those less critical. This analysis provides valuable information to understand the prioritization of activities in the development of off-road vehicles. The results have applications both in the academic environment, improving the training of students in Baja teams, and in industry, optimizing the PDP of automotive products. The research contributes to knowledge about product development, offering insight into the practices of student teams and valuable lessons for PDP management in the automotive industry.
