Budgetary pressure imposes on the healthcare industry the potential of Industry 4.0 to organize the value chain to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Derived from Industry 4.0, the concept of Heath 4.0 focuses on the advanced virtualization of services for patients, professionals, and others involved in the care process. The enabling technologies from Heath 4.0 drive personalized treatments in real-time analysis and diagnostics. This study proposes to describe the implementation of digitalization in the operations of a Brazilian hospital complex and relate them to the principles of Heath 4.0. The methodology used in the research follows the process of searching and describing the study environment, guided by the resources implemented in the routines and flow of patient care in a private hospital in southern Brazil. By analyzing the concepts, principles, and technologies of Industry and Heath 4.0, it is possible to relate them to the practices applied in the hospital organization. There were gains in capacity and productivity in care due to increased reliability in data obtained by digitizing medical records, interoperability between devices, reduction of medication errors, efficient monitoring of patient flow, healthcare professionals, and patient satisfaction.
