The study of industrial competitive dynamics involves a wide set of approaches that range from the configuration of market structures and levels of concentration, interactions and strategic movements of groups of companies, and between companies, over time, aiming to identify performance advantages over the competitors. This work seeks to demonstrate the characterization of industrial competitive dynamics for the case of the Pulp market in Brazil, through the application of the Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) model, with emphasis on the analysis of the variation of industrial concentration levels. The methodology had a descriptive character, with a mixed approach, with a quantitative bias through the indices of Concentration Ratio (CRk) and Gini Coefficient (GC), and qualitative in the analysis and interpretation of the results in relation to the fundamentals. In the preliminary procedures, the companies that had the highest volume of pulp production in the period between 2013 and 2020 were identified. In general, the results showed a trend towards greater concentration of the industry. As for entry barriers, the high level of concentration verified, close to 70% (in 2020), associated with the need for large investments in new plants to expand production scales and modernization of the dominant companies, was accentuated by the mergers that took place in the period, constituting strong and main barriers to entry in the sector. It is important to highlight the excellent performance of the Brazilian pulp industry in the international market in the period, jumping from 4th to 2nd position in the world production ranking, achieving leadership in exports. In this sense, it can be considered that the concentrated structure of the Brazilian pulp industry favored the strategy of replacing the stagnation of demand in the domestic market by going abroad, allowing Brazil to reach a prominent position in the international pulp market, generating strong revenue for the companies and contributing to the entry of substantial reserves into the country.
