The product development cycle is lowering in the same rate as complexity of the product enhances, considering raw materials or number of component management. Thus it is imperative to control and converge the components information of the new products with the current ones, for after that ensure the control of the product cost. Researches demonstrate that one tool to use is commonality, wichmeasures the quantity of material used, or might use, a same component. However, many companies find it difficult to the commonality principle daily. This study aimsto propose a method to assess and manage commonality, connecting to the cost drivers on the World Class Manufacturingmethodology. The data collection of this study was obtained inside the Enterprise Resource Planningof a white goods manufacturer, especially refrigerators line, in the city of Joinville, state of Santa Catarina. The data was obtained by quantitative research to result in a method. This method enabled the creation of the Pareto graphics where standardization of the new products were conceived, and where families of products had a better orientation visualization among the assembly lines.
