Abstract

The business model based on a circular economy is one in which resources are collected in use for as long as possible, this system is an alternative to the linear “take, make-use-discard” path being followed in many industries. However, as companies can adopt a circular approach to production, implementing a variety of alternative business models. Based on an exploratory and bibliographical research in the literature on the theme of circular economy in Brazil, it should consider the main concepts. In addition, it will be exposed to an overview of the evolution of public policies in Brazil and in the world and how initiatives to adopt the elements of circularity that are being developed in the country. It is concluded that public policies are essential for the development and through the review accomplished, it was possible to conclude that Brazil does not have public or specific policies for the promotion of the circular economy, and the incipient initiatives are promoted by NGOs or private companies, with projects carried out in special ways. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the resources of civil associations and small municipalities and disseminate circular thinking. The country must follow a line of action that promotes the approximation of schools and research institutions, fostering and promoting projects in areas such as basic sanitation and recycling.

Cursando mestrado em Gestão de Desempenho de Operações pela Universidade de São Paulo - EESCUSP pelo Departamento de Pós Graduação em Engenharia de Produção. Representante do estado de Minas Gerais da Associação Brasileira de Engenharia de Produção Jovem (ABEPRO Jovem) em 2019. Diretora de Assuntos Estudantis do C.A.E.P - Centro Acadêmico do Curso de Engenharia de Produção Bruna Tiemi, eleita por votação discente na UFU - Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, gestão de 01 de junho de 2017 a 26 de junho de 2018, Assessora Financeira do C.A.E.P - Centro Acadêmico do Curso de Engenharia de Produção Bruna Tiemi da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia - gestão de 26 de junho de 2018 a março de 2019. Atualmente, é chefe do Setor de Logística no Hospital Universitário de São Carlos.

Possui graduação em Engenharia de Produção Mecânica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1988), mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1995) e doutorado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade de São Paulo (2000). Atualmente é professor doutor da Universidade de São Paulo. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Produção, com ênfase em Logística e Gestão da Cadeia de Suprimentos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: logística no terceiro setor (saúde e hospitais), medição de desempenho, gestão da cadeia de suprimentos, logística hospitalar e produção enxuta.
