Abstract

Some characteristics of the aircraft industry are the low turnover and the high levels of inventory in the supply chain. In this article, the decision to transfer the manufacturing plant of parts used in the assembly of aircraft is analyzed, by an analysis of inventory in scenarios that evaluate the interactions among transports modals, customs clearance regime and the inventory levels. The method is modeling through Systems Dynamics by checking cause-and-effect variables with dynamic behavior, it also helps to understand how they can affect the system's result.The results show how the costs of inventories and transportation can influence the decision to transfer the production of the imported segments to the country, providing a significant reduction in the costs of inventories during the expected life cycle of the product.
