Abstract

The reverse logistics system of municipal solid waste (MSW) can be structured in many ways. This work focuses in structuring the combustion method with energy recovery by coprocessing, due to the contribution that this method brings in decreasing the disposal of MSW to landfill. Based on an extensive literature review and evaluation of the modeling techniques and methods used in the literature to solve similar problems, a generic mathematical model for structuring the reverse logistics system of MSW to coprocessing was defined. This model can be used in future to properly design this system and thus contribute to the reduction of MSW disposal in landfill.
