Resumo

Embora o potencial da inovação aberta para desenvolver melhorias relacionadas ao produto por meio do uso de fontes externas de conhecimento seja inegável, nossa compreensão de como as empresas se tornam inovadoras de processo permanece limitada. É importante distinguir entre inovação de produto e de processo, pois os insights obtidos na investigação da inovação de produto podem não estar diretamente relacionados ao estudo da inovação de processo. O objetivo deste artigo foi descrever cases práticos desta inovação e o seu potencial para garantir processos produtivos mais sustentáveis no setor industrial. Além disso, propomos uma matriz de analise que acompanha como a inovação de processos pode permitir à transição de empresas para a à indústria 4.0. Os resultados apresentados pelos cases descritos nesta pesquisa, apontam uma relação direta entre a inovação de processos e o aumento da produtividade e inovação nas organizações estudadas.
